M–F, July 6–10 | 10AM–3PM
Green Space | 37-24 24th St
Long Island City, NY 11101

DAILY STRUCTURE:

MORNING WORKSHOP — Technique & Phrasework (2 hrs)
Explore space with curiosity; utilize breath and connection with attention to space and community. Explore full-bodied movement with biomechanical awareness, weight, texture, and sensitivity. Learn new phrasework created by Marisa f. Ballaro in collaboration with the Company.

MIDDAY — Break + Conversation (30 min)
A space to pause, connect, refuel, and exchange ideas in community.

AFTERNOON LAB — Ballaro Dance, New Repertory (2 hrs 30 min)
Develop a Ballaro repertory work—be in process and shape new material with the Company. This is a space of rigorous engagement, creative development, and embodied research leaning toward performance practice. The residency will include collaborators-in-process, and the culminating project (detailed below) will be developed and defined through the week’s work.

Her America: Built by Dreamers is a new dance film and live performance project created in collaboration with Ready Steady Cinema. Filmed at sunrise beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, this high-energy work features expansive movement, dynamic partner work, and cinematic storytelling to explore themes of courage, resilience, ambition, movement, and freedom. Reimagining the American story through the lens of women and the dreamers who shape the future, the project will premiere as a dance film, and continue as an invited live performance in New York City in fall 2026 or early 2027. Note that filming with Ready Steady Cinema is scheduled for Saturday, July 11 between 5:30am-8:00am pending weather, conditions, and filming needs.
