SEE:

The first Company value of Ballaro Dance is to present dance for you to SEE and experience. Check out a sample of our repertory to SEE us in action!

Ballaro Dance pushes boundaries exploring rhythm, musicality, and the use of space. We define complimenting small gestures and a use of storytelling, to say something quite powerful.
We invite you to SEE us on stage, in a rehearsal, or on film. We treasure the opportunity to bring dance to all, especially first-time viewers. Check out some upcoming opportunities to SEE us in action:

Get Your TICKETS!!!

More about the Performance: Choreographer Marisa f. Ballaro returns to SUNY Brockport with her NYC-based Company, Ballaro Dance, to present an evening of dance. Going FULL CIRCLE, the performance is a time capsule of the past, present, and future of Ballaro Dance. Some of what you'll SEE on the program includes a new premiere by the Company, a dance/tech piece developed virtually during the pandemic, dance films made by longtime collaborator Zoran Prodanovic, and a dance choreographed by Marisa when she was a student at Brockport in the Dance Department 16 years ago! Joining the Company on stage are participants from the SEE MOVE SHARE Dance Intensive & Performance Project hosted by the Alumni Association on campus throughout the week. Ballaro Dance is eager to dig deep into the archives and return to the stage at Hartwell Dance Theater where it all began.

Embedded Memories is rooted in honoring personal histories through the sense of scars and their images which live permanently on, and inside of, our bodies. Investigating the memories and stories these imprints hold, we can learn from one another and promote community healing. Inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery while highlighting the areas of breakage, golden accents illuminate the stories through the investigation of an installation space with over 50 lighted lanterns ranging in size from 6'' - 36'' and inventive light pieces affixed to the dancers' bodies.
