The third, essential value of Ballaro Dance is the opportunity to talk, connect, to SHARE with our community.

We strive to build community, and to invite new faces into the fold, whenever possible. We want to meet you, to hear from you, to get to know you, to SHARE with you. We love to bring members of our community together - educators, collaborators, audience, and more. Check out our upcoming opportunities to connect:

SHARE: Yappy Hour For Dance/Movement Educators

Saturday, April 17

12:30pm - 2:00pm EST on Zoom

This month we'll discuss the "ballet body" and the long-standing aesthetic expectations that go along with it. Dancers need to be "fit," but what has that really meant (historically & honestly) when we say it? The implication that dancers need to be "thin" to achieve success must shift and it must begin in the hands of (us!) educators. We'll start the conversation reflecting on two recent articles from The Washington Post and The New York Times, then discuss "body positivity" and the evolution of this movement including both its positive and negative impacts (including its usual exclusion of "people of color, as well as those who are disabled, LGBTQ, and non-binary"). All voices are welcome to this FREE community conversation.

SHARE: Yappy Hour For Artists & Collaborators

Sunday, April 25

1:00pm - 2:30pm EST on Zoom

Let's talk about process. What are you currently working on? Show/share, ask for feedback, query the group. We are here for one another as we find new and interesting modes of inspiration.

Ballaro Dance is a New York City based modern dance company performing the work of Marisa f. Ballaro.

The dances are about physical space, music, and time. Small gestures are brought to life while making meaning through storytelling.
